The moment you reach Queenstown the action begins. It is undoubtedly the adventure capital of New Zealand with there being an endless selection of adventure activities you can choose from. Seriously, you think it – they’ve got it. To name a few there’s sky diving, bungee jumping, white water rafting, jet boating, canyon swinging, hiking, skiing/snowboarding in the winter, luging, helicopter riding, ice skating, rock climbing, bike riding, and even frisbee golf! I could just about guarantee that you will be non-stop filling your days with activities in Queenstown.
But before you completely fill up your time I suggest you take a moment to unwind, relax and treat yourself at the Onsen Hot Pools. I first came across the hot pools completely by chance as it was quite cold and rainy in Queenstown when I visited and I wanted to find an activity that wasn’t dependent on the weather. This was the perfect activity for warming up and kicking back after a hectic few days.
For me, the Onsen Hot Pools offered that little bit of luxury while on a budget trip. For a one hour session for one person you can expect to pay around NZ$46. This price decreases slightly the more people who share the pool. If you wish to indulge yourself further you can purchase additional packages that include towels, cold drinks, wine, aromatherapy burner and ice cream.
Bookings are essential, especially in the winter months when people are coming straight from the snowy slopes. Included in your booking is return shuttle bus transport from The Station on Shotover Street to the Hot Pools. Once you get there you will be greeted by stunning scenery and will be overlooking the Shotover River. Scenes from which you can enjoy from your very own private pool, complete with retractable wall and roof.
If you are going to indulge in a little luxury during your time in Queenstown then make sure you indulge at the Onsen Hot Pools. It was one of the standout spa experiences I have ever had and will definitely be revisited next time around.
We all deserve to treat ourselves every now and then right? I mean after all we are on holiday! If you want to find out more about the Onsen Hot Pools check them out here.
